Submission Guidelines
What quotes are welcome?
Quotetoo is a curated collection of original words from real people. We welcome:
- Original quotes — Words you wrote yourself
- Insightful observations — Wisdom, philosophy, life lessons
- Motivational thoughts — Inspiration that uplifts
- Creative expressions — Poetry, aphorisms, memorable phrases
- Professional insights — Lessons from your field of expertise
- Spicy takes & dark humor — We don't shy from edge. Just keep it original.
What's NOT allowed?
We maintain high standards. The following will be rejected:
- Plagiarized content — Quotes from other authors without permission
- Famous quotes — Already-known quotes from celebrities or historical figures
- Hateful content — Discrimination, harassment, or targeted threats
- Spam or promotional — Advertising, links, or commercial content
- Low-quality content — Random text, incomplete thoughts, or filler
- AI-generated — Unless clearly disclosed as AI-assisted
- Doxxing or private info — No personal data about others without consent
Quality standards
Length
5–500 characters. Concise yet meaningful.
Originality
Must be your own words, not copied from others.
Clarity
Complete thoughts that stand alone.
Attribution
Use your real name, a pen name, or go anonymous — your call.
Claimed vs Anonymous
When you submit a quote, you choose how you want to be credited. Both paths are equally welcome.
Claim It
Put your name on it. Build a public portfolio of your words.

- Eligible for badges & verification
- Email verification required
Go Anonymous
Let the words speak for themselves. No name required.
- Displayed as “Anonymous” or your alias
- Optional display name (e.g., “NightOwl”)
- No profile page or social links
- Goes straight to the review queue
- Email collected for moderation only — never shown
Note: You can't switch a quote between claimed and anonymous after submission. Choose your path before you submit.
Vibes & Heat Ratings
Every approved quote gets categorized by our team so people can find exactly the kind of energy they're looking for.
The 10 Vibes
Each quote is tagged with up to 3 vibes. These are assigned by our admin team during review — you don't pick them yourself, but you can suggest tags when submitting.
Heat Ratings
Heat ratings indicate content maturity. We don't shy from edge — we just label it so people know what they're getting.
Chill
Clean, universally appropriate. Safe for any audience.
Spicy
A little edge. Might raise an eyebrow but nothing extreme.
Hot
Strong language or mature themes. Not for the faint of heart.
Scorcher
Explicit, raw, or provocative. Adults only. Still has to be original and well-crafted.
The rule is simple: We don't censor based on heat — we censor based on quality and intent. A scorcher that's brilliant gets approved. A chill quote that's lazy gets rejected.
The Approval Process
How does moderation work?
Every quote is reviewed by a human before publication. The process depends on which path you chose:

How long does approval take?
Typically 24–48 hours, but may take longer during high-volume periods. You'll receive an email notification when your quote is approved.
Submission does not guarantee approval.
Quotetoo is a curated platform. We reserve the right to reject any submission that doesn't meet our quality standards — regardless of heat level.
Managing Your Quotes
How do I access my quotes?
We use magic link authentication — no passwords to remember. This works for both claimed and anonymous submissions, since both require an email.
- Go to /manage
- Enter the email you used to submit
- Click the secure link we send you (valid for 1 hour)
- View and manage all quotes associated with that email
Can I delete my quotes?
Yes. You can delete any quote — claimed or anonymous — through the Manage Your Quotes page. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
Can I edit my quotes?
No. Once approved, quotes are permanently inked — this is by design. Quotetoo is an archive of enduring words. If you need to change a quote, delete it and submit a new one.
Can I change my username?
No. Usernames are permanent — they become part of your quote's URL and citation. Choose carefully.
Need to fix a typo? Delete your quote via Manage Your Quotes and resubmit.

Why permanence?
Quotetoo positions quotes as literary monuments. When your quote is approved, it becomes part of a permanent archive — something that can be cited, shared, and referenced with confidence. This permanence gives your words weight.
Why curation over scale?
Not every quote makes it. That's the point. By maintaining high standards, we ensure that every approved quote is worth reading. Being featured on Quotetoo means something.
How does search work?
We use semantic search powered by AI. Search by meaning, not just keywords. Search for “hope in hard times” and find quotes about resilience and perseverance, even if they don't contain those exact words.
Are my quotes public?
Yes. Approved quotes are publicly visible on Quotetoo, indexed by search engines, and discoverable through internet searches. This is intentional — your words become part of the public record.
Your email address is never shared publicly, regardless of whether you submitted as claimed or anonymous.
